Segmentation does not need to be exotic: guest Wi-Fi on its own VLAN, VoIP separated from PCs, and a restricted path to domain controllers already blunt common attack paths.

Inventory what actually needs to talk—most east-west traffic is accidental.
Apply default deny between VLANs except documented rules.
Keep backup targets off the general user segment.

Multiple offices or heavy cloud use may point to SD-WAN and SASE patterns for consistent policy. Until then, firewall logging on denied flows often reveals misconfigurations worth fixing first.
