How much does IT support cost for a small business?

For small businesses in Orange County, managed IT is $250–$325 per user per month with a 4-user minimum ($1,000/month starting point). A 10-person office might pay $2,500–$3,250/month for complete managed IT including monitoring, help desk, patch management, and security — far less than the $75,000–$100,000 annual cost of an in-house IT employee.

Do I really need IT support if I only have 5–10 employees?

Yes — even small businesses face ransomware, hardware failures, email phishing, and compliance requirements. In fact, small businesses are increasingly targeted precisely because they're less protected. A managed IT provider gives a 5-person team the same IT protection as a large enterprise, at an affordable monthly cost.

What IT services does a small business really need?

Essential IT services for small businesses include: help desk support (fast resolution when things break), endpoint protection (antivirus/EDR), email security, backup and recovery, patch management, and MFA. As you grow, add monitoring, a firewall review, and cybersecurity training.

Can I use a consumer IT person instead of a managed IT provider?

A freelance 'computer guy' might work for very basic issues, but won't provide proactive monitoring, guaranteed response times, cybersecurity expertise, or compliance support. As your business grows and handles sensitive data, a professional managed IT provider is significantly safer and often more cost-effective.
